August Hochman

Founder and CEO

August works with philanthropists individually to develop their giving strategy. With a deep understanding of her funders needs, she helps them navigate uncertainty and translate big-picture goals into concrete plans. August directs strategy, partnerships, outreach, and engagement at Ark Philanthropy.

August also serves as the Founding Partner at Scaling Impact Partners, a UK based nonprofit strategy firm working to make the philanthropic ecosystem more coordinated, effective, and impactful.

Previously, August served as a Co-founder and Director at the Centre for Aquaculture Progress, a forward-thinking non-profit dedicated to improving European aquaculture for consumers, farmers, and fish. She has founded other philanthropic projects across a range of cause areas. In previous roles, August served as the president of a grassroots sexual violence prevention and survivor advocacy organization. She has worked as a survivor advocate and as a transformative mediator. August has also worked on legislative change for various social justice issues. She graduated from Kenyon College magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts (colonial history). In August’s free time, she likes to cook, dance, and spend time with friends.
